Spotlight: Jan Valik’s brilliant new chapter begins

It’s notoriously difficult to be accepted onto a Royal College of Art degree course and not unusual for artists to apply many times before being accepted. One of our Master’s artists, Jan Valik, recently completed his MA at the RCA. Remarkably, this was his second Fine Art Master’s – how many artists are so committed they do two MAs? His work is divine.. poetic, and entirely his own.

I bought a tiny painting by Jan a little while ago – a thundery cloud called The Subtle Edge of Memory. I’m looking at it now.. the way the rain falls in this diffuse kind of mist – it’s glorious:

Last night Jan Valik’s solo show opened in Vienna. The show is entitled The Calling, which feels like such an apt name, doesn’t it? For these poetic, atmospheric paintings – light breaking through mysterious paintscapes.

We have some wonderful pieces available by Jan and it feels like a pretty exciting moment for him – so it’s a great time to invest too.
