Investment Tip – Emiko Aida

Emiko Aida is an award-winning artist, recipient of the 2nd prize at the National Open Art Competition in 2014, Winner of the International Print Prize – Guanlan Print Biennial in 2011 and widely exhibited both in the UK and Internationally.

Emiko produces beautiful, limited edition aquatints – always creating immersive atmospheres: whether depicting the grey of the city, sun-dappled autumn or a velvety drapery of darkness, Aida makes the world briefly intimate again, as suddenly as a cherry blossom tree.

The aquatint printmaking process is complex and requires a high level of skill. Aquatint is a variant of etching and in this process; prints are taken from a metal plate that is prepared by the artist. Each layer of tonal variation within Emiko’s work has been carefully created through the application of rosin, adhered to the plate, which has then been exposed to acid. The finished plate has then been inked by hand, resulting in prints with a tactile and unique quality, each print is signed and numbered by the artist.

Emiko’s prints are still available at a remarkable price point. We have felt for some time that her work is underpriced – and a comment on twitter by art expert Michael Angove on seeing Emiko’s work confirms our opinion: “it was beautiful and under priced.. should start at £1000”

The below selection of Emiko’s prints will see a 30% increase this Monday, 23rd November so it’s good time to invest and who wouldn’t appreciate one of these beautiful aquatints for Christmas?

“Short-lived cherry blossoms create an unusual spiritual atmosphere, which is the great attraction of having parties under the trees.”
