In her final year (2020) at Wimbledon, University of the Arts London, Louisa was awarded the Prunella Clough Legacy Commission Prize. Her spectacular large-scale piece was revealed in June 2021, to be permanently installed at the college’s reception.
For her exquisite charcoal drawings Zuzanna Salamon was awarded: the Hermione Hammond Drawing Award at the New English Art Club Annual Exhibition (June 2021, Mall Galleries London), the Velvet Easel Gallery Award (June 2021, Paisley Art Institute), and the de Laszlo Foundation Prize – Highly Commended (April 2021, Mall Galleries).
The brilliant Alice Miller also reached the finals of The Signature Art Prize last year. Her photorealist paintings mimic the heightening of our senses; viewers are invited to experience the youth, fun, and rich intimacy of her contemporary subjects – always tinged with an element of risk.
We are delighted to share the news that three exceptional NewBlood artists have been shortlisted for the Royal Society for British Artists Rising Star Award. Louisa Clark, Zuzanna Salamon, and Alice Miller are all recently graduated practitioners working with impressive technical ability and carving out a unique style for themselves. On the back of this news and these qualities – as well as previous awards – we are tipping these three emerging artists as particularly investable.
Their works will be on display in London as part of the award, which involves a residency in Rome at the Sala Uno arts centre in the heart of the city. The selection of shortlisted artists by the society “maps the trajectory of what is yet to come in contemporary art practice”.
