Launched in 2020, the Freelands Painting Prize celebrates outstanding painting practice at undergraduate level. The prize culminates in a Painting Prize exhibition at their Chalk Farm Gallery space.
“Each year the prize invites all higher education institutions around the UK that offer a BA Fine Art or Painting course to nominate a final-year student to submit a work for the prize; either a painting or a work exploring painting in the expanded field.
The winning artists were selected by a jury including artist and curator Harminder Judge, writer and art critic Emily LaBarge, curator and writer Jenni Lomax and Sid Motion, founder of the Sid Motion Gallery in London.”
2 New Blood Artists have been selected this year for the Freelands Paining Prize. Both artists were also shortlisted for the New Blood Art Emerging Art Prize. Congratulations to these 2 emerging artists – Sean Davidson and Edward Jones.
Sean Davidson – 2023 graduate Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design, University of Dundee.
Edward Jones – 2023 graduate City & Guilds of London Art School.
