I want to draw your attention to Errol Theunissen.
It is unusual for us to feature the same artist in our Spotlight section three times in such close succession. We first featured Errol in Spotlight when Whitechapel Gallery identified him as a rising talent. We featured him again when he reached the important milestone of a debut solo show, which was also listed by Whitechapel Gallery. He has now been shortlisted for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition 2026.
Errol is also one of the very few self-taught artists we show and reaching this level of institutional recognition as a self-taught artist is unusual, which makes this sequence of markers even more notable.
There is also an extraordinary personal story behind the work. After a serious car accident in which he lost his friend Mike, Errol had to learn to walk again. In his own words, it was through “creating these bright, vivid works, full of movement and fun” that he was able to manage his grief and loss.
This is a significant artist and this feels like an important moment in his trajectory.
It’s the perfect time to invest.
