Christian Neuman was recently visited in his studio – located in the stables of an old castle – by photographer Tom Jungbluth, who documented the artist at work.
It’s an exciting month for him: his painting will go on show at the Luxembourg Art Week running 8th – 13th November, featuring galleries, events and workshops geared toward artists, collectors and industry professionals, with abundant opportunities to appreciate modern and contemporary art.
Christian’s feature film Skin Walker, a “taut, stylish thriller” is playing as part of the European Film Festival based in Toronto and also screening online, giving “anyone across Canada the opportunity to sample the best of contemporary filmmaking from the European Union.”
You can see the artist’s available work online here. Christian Neuman conjures curiously touchable canvases with compelling and emotive narratives. Neuman’s art is an enthralling voyage for the senses and the rebellious soul. The artist describes how he works: on the edge of pure expression, in order to capture the most authentic and unembellished states of human emotion. Take for example his work, ‘Conscious I’, conjured in black oils as thick, rich and dark as tar, which appear to be making a bid to escape the surface of the canvas. The work is personal and theatrical, embracing a range of emotion.
