Drawings

Drawing can be a startling intimate medium, with its exquisite effort clear to see. When searching for artwork in the gallery you can do so by medium. The drawings currently represented is eclectic: there’s Dylan Leddington’s rich displays of architecture in decay and the receptive interiority of Judy Pilarczyk’s ‘Evening Thoughts’. There’s Sonja de Graaf’s sensuous portraits bringing colour across monochrome and Jessica Chapman’s electrifying tones in her ‘Portrait of Cat.’

Charlotte Serena Johnston makes gorgeous landscapes in black and white alongside lush greenhouses in colour. A lovely gift for a younger viewer could be Kidd Murray’s vibrant landscapes (or dreamscapes).

Kyle Noble uses malachite and lapis lazuli to magical effect in his fantastic, fabled scenes, which he posits as alternative prehistories – whereas Stuart Deasley’s minimalist, geometric drawing against a map is spectacular in a very different way.

And Katherine Lloyd brings her attentiveness to the malleability of forms to bear in a portrait of an animal in flux.
