Works for under £1000

Collecting can be a personal thing. In this video Brazilian collectors Mara and Marcio Fainziliber discuss with Art Basel how their collection came about, which resides in their home in Rio de Janeiro. First and foremost they buy what they like: what immediately speaks to them, which tends to be the same thing for both of them. 

As well as the emotional reaction there are practical considerations: what’s possible for their space, and for their budget. In the video you’ll see works by Tracy Emin, Lynette Yiadom-Boakye, Louise Bourgeois and more suspended throughout their home – as well as small works by Rodin, Gaugin and Degas. 

In this curation you’ll find a selection of works for under £1000, in a real range of styles by early career artists. If a work speaks to you, though you can’t explain how; if you can imagine it in your space and living beside it then this, in itself, is a key way to value that artwork.
