Colette LaVette and Morag Caister are winners of Partnership Editions open call for emerging artists! This follows a solo show for Colette in London earlier this summer, and for Morag a solo show called Looking for Peace at Gallery 70 in Tirana, Albania as well as multiple group shows across the country from Warwick to Doncaster. We’ve featured both as investable artists before: see our previous tips on Morag, and on Colette after several of her pieces were acquired and displayed by Sir Paul Smith. Colette’s practice is sustainable: making her own paints with mostly natural earth pigments, using linen or organic cotton as a canvas and shipping work carbon neutral. See our feature on how Colette has designed her home with the same meticulous consideration for materials. Morag was named in the Best of 2021 by London Paint Club, one of six winners of The Curators EROS Project Award, and shortlisted for The Self-Portrait Award hosted by The Ruth Borchard Collection. Morag painted Booker Prize winner Bernardine Evaristo as a semi-finalist in the 2020 series of Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Year, and most recently was included in the New Portrait Artist of the Year exhibition at Compton Verney. This year Morag has been shortlisted for The Football Art Prize with her portrait ‘Match Of The Day’, and her piece ‘Self-Portrait With Bad Posture’ has been selected for the permanent collection of the new Soho House Brighton opening later this year. |
