Jagged patterns, dragging brush strokes, and sheets of colour, intertwine and vibrate against each other in the abstract landscape paintings of Jasmine Mills. Her paintings, each radiating energetic use of colour, are based on landscapes both imagined and remembered. Expressive mark-making give the impression of structure whilst retaining the organic flow of unrestrained paint. As such the landscapes come to life like a half-remembered dream – suggested through the use of vibrant colour and energetic brushstrokes. Trees, horizons, and rivers whilst ambiguous, become visible as quickly as they sink back into the embroiled wash of colours in an almost hypnotic dance of colour and form.
