In 2024 Lilian Evans had her first solo show in July this year - A Place In My Heart at the Pipe Factory, Glasgow, Scotland in collaboration with curator Aliya Prichard-Casey. She also has another solo show - The Lover - in February 2025 at Beacon Arts, Greenock, Scotland. Plus an exhibition collaboration with Aliya Prichard-Casey at French Street, Glasgow, Scotland in March titled I DARE YOU TO LOVE ME.
Lilian Evans’ transdisciplinary practice is a sensual exploration into the expanded field of painting, confronting the medium in which she finds herself monotonously committed to. She finds this unfaithful partnership between herself and a painting practice to be riddled in infidelity. An expostulation through the use of waste materials, in the form of large-scale fabrics and drapery formations within a visual language, to penetrate, to interrogate a medium.
Drapery contains an air of sensuality. There is something alluring about the voluptuous and sybaritic aesthetic formations that push the two dimensions to three. Evans’ practice contains a multitude of relationships between herself and the materials she uses. Ultimately her work holds an air of longing, lust and desire for the side of a lorry.
Revolving around her methodology of desire, Evans’ practice sits in the space between wanting and possessing as she seeks to express her obsessive desire for the side of a lorry.
Her works, constructed with intuition, compulsion, and lust, are in essence, desire made manifest.
