Lilian Evans’ transdisciplinary practice is a sensual exploration into the expanded field of painting, confronting the medium in which she finds herself monotonously committed to. She finds this unfaithful partnership between herself and a painting practice to be riddled in infidelity. An expostulation through the use of waste materials, in the form of large-scale fabrics and drapery formations within a visual language, to penetrate, to interrogate a medium. Drapery contains an air of sensuality. There is something alluring about the voluptuous and sybaritic aesthetic formations that push the two dimensions to three. Evans’ practice contains a multitude of relationships between herself and the materials she uses. Ultimately her work holds an air of longing, lust and desire for the side of a lorry.
