Munroe Richter

Munroe Richter is a painter who draws on myth, personal narrative, and modern symbols to create his pieces. He explores what it means to be a painter in today’s image saturated culture, with the nature of technology giving human’s a shorter attention span. Richter balances traditional realism with imagination to make sense of both his and the viewer’s grasp on reality. As well as painting, Richter experiments with sculpture, such as his ceramic finger cleverly titled “Lady Finger”, with which he represents recognisable objects in a way that demands a second look.

David Blyth, Contemporary Art Practice Course Leader and Academic Strategic Lead (Fine Art) at Gray's School of Art:

Munroe is a highly skilled painter who relates to traditional techniques and philosophies. Tools to explore new and innovative ways of presenting ideas to audience. Crafted objects that push the boundaries from conception to execution.
