Original mixed media painting in gouache, pastel, graphite, ink and structura ground on Bockingford Watercolour paper (425gm/sq m), white matt surface and acid free. Structura is a paste applied to the surface of the paper to provide texture as part of the painting process.

"I paint places that I have a connection to, either personal or through ideas that interest me. Margate is a source of inspiration because of its connections to JMW Turner. The sea and sky and the disappearing horizon provide the starting point. "The way we look at the landscape determines how we understand and internalise it."
