Original mixed media painting in gouache, pastel, graphite, ink and structura ground on Bockingford Watercolour paper (425gm/sq m), white matt surface and acid free.

"I paint places where I have a connection either personal or through ideas and thoughts that interest me. The Humber Estuary is a major source of inspiration and I use the space it provides to explore these thoughts and ideas including historical references to process of painting itself. The forts on the Humber Estuary are placed where it opens into the North Sea. "The way we look at the landscape determines how we understand and internalise it." Structura is a paste applied to the surface of the paper to provide some texture as part of the painting process.
