Original mixed media painting on Bockingford watercolour paper (300gm/sq m), white matt surface, acid free. Structura is a paste applied to the surface of the paper to provide some texture as part of the painting process.

"'250 miles (from Passchendaele)' is placed on the Humber Estuary at Spurn Head. I paint places where I have an emotional connection and can explore ideas from personal history to classical references to the process of painting itself. The Humber Estuary with its space and life provides a back drop to explore many thoughts and ideas. Connections and contrasts to a different time are part of this. From the stillness of the Spurn Head to the trenches of Passchendaele where my grandfather fought. It is an original mixed media work in gouache, pastel, graphite and ink on structura ground."
