Colour & Pattern

Each of the artworks in this collection has an immediacy. There is no singular way in which these artworks make an impact, but a common theme is that both colour and pattern are often central to the task. The sheer quantity of images that we view on a daily basis makes something akin to an original aesthetic experience almost impossible. This being so, finding a means of stopping the viewer, creating a pause, a moment’s reflection, time spent with the artwork, can be an onerous task. These artworks acknowledge such difficulty but hope that through making an immediate visual impact, the viewer will stay, asking questions of how it was made, of what the content depicts, of the colour choices, of the formal decision making.
