Boundaries in Flux: The Art of Elad Eisenstein and Lyubov Franko

The works of Elad Eisenstein and Lyubov Franko invite us to reconsider the role of boundaries in art and therefore in life..

Boundaries holding and enabling the form to be fully expressed. It is the structure, the edges, that contain and focus the energy. Both artists demonstrate this principle in abstract forms, albeit through very different materials.

Franko’s approach to structure emerges through silk’s inherent receptive properties. see for example 'Treasures' where nine concentric circles arrange themselves in a reassuring grid - each burgundy centre bleeding slightly outwards into translucent gray halos.. Gold dashes create a geometric rhythm across the surface - providing gentle anchors to silk's fluid nature - that allow the material to express itself fully.

Franko shows us that even when, especially when.. boundaries appear soft and permeable, structure can provide stability. The repetition of circular forms and precise placement of gold dashes creates a containing framework that allows for the silk’s natural permeable properties. The structure of the repeat pattern holds the form, providing reassurance and containment within ephemeral materiality.

These artists’ different approaches to materiality create a fascinating conversation. Eisenstein builds physical edges much more robustly, defining spaces through bold presence - thick, decisive impasto sometimes brushstrokes that construct geometric reality and assert their edge definitively.. Meanwhile Franko constructs boundaries through the interplay of absence and presence, opacity and transparency, allowing silk’s natural properties to actively participate in the creation of form.

Both artists explore how structure contains energy, allowing it to manifest fully rather than dissipate chaotically.

These emerging artists contribute to an ongoing dialogue about form and freedom in abstract art.

Viewed together, these artists' works create a striking dialogue between robust architectural assertion and organic flow, offering collectors two complementary perspectives on creating freedom through boundaries in contemporary abstraction.
