Using oils to capture contemporary landscapes, Nina creates energetic urban landscapes by night. Her work draws on memory from places she has lived and travelled through. She paints in a loose, figurative style capturing light and atmosphere and movement.

Artist Statement

I see my art as a personal expression of the internal and external world around me.  Visual memory is key to my paintings using experiences and emotions felt from my travels, the ocean, cities and new experiences that seep in and settle into the corners of my mind. These glimpses find their way into my paintings, informing my art, coupled with an exploration of what is “home”.

The changes in atmosphere of cities, particularly at dusk, that twilight hour between day and night, is a time that captures my imagination, that mysterious mood change as night falls.

And water, in all forms, its peaceful calming qualities but also its immense power is found somewhere in almost every painting that I do.
