Weaving, as if to bind colour to time. Not stitched onto - pulled through, like breath through ribs, memory through weather. A threshold, held in tension, line by line.
Each work carries the grain of touch. You can’t rush a loom. The pigment settles into warp like mist into grass - slow, irreversible, alive.
And the images? They hover, ache, ask nothing. They remember and somehow, in all that evocative transience, they ground. Woven to stay.
I’m a Norwegian artist, designer, and hand weaver based in the UK. My creative practice is rooted in craft and process, where I explore the interplay of material and colour to create contemporary woven artworks. My woven pieces often act as emotional canvases, shaped by memories of the land I left behind. The extreme light and dramatic nature of Arctic Norway continue to influence my work. Through weaving, I translate the colours and textures of my childhood into abstract expressions - creating a quiet dialogue between past and present. I work with materials such as linen, cotton, and paper, crafting subtle patterns through a process that blurs the boundaries between painting and weaving. By painting the warp before weaving, I allow light, colour, and texture to emerge organically. The resulting surfaces are delicate and tactile, inviting closer engagement. I graduated from the University for the Creative Arts in 2009 and went on to design interior textiles for a global clientele. Today, my practice moves fluidly between art and design, grounded in the traditions of hand weaving. My work has been exhibited in galleries and art fairs, and is held in private collections across Europe, Asia, and the US.
