Degree: Painting MA
University: Slade School of Fine Art
Graduation Year: 2024
I am a neurodiverse British-Portuguese artist, working predominantly with oil painting, printmaking and assemblage. My work weaves lyricism into depictions of personal, everyday subjects while exploring themes of memory, intimacy, humour, sadness and longing. Frames are essential to my practice and treated as an integral part of the artwork. I work mostly with materials considered ordinary (recycled cardboard, found objects) as sustainability and nostalgia are important to my artistic approach. By framing my own paintings in elaborate and inventive ways, I aim to question binaries such as fantasy and reality, inside and outside, narrative and decorative, manual craft and intellectual art.
