Matt Lee\u2019s\u00a0Presence of Absence<\/em>\u00a0photographic series features a \u201cdecontextualised black shape\u201d looming ominously over a Bangalore apartment block. The title of the work suggests the shape is some kind of infinite void of time and space, poised on the brink of causing unthinkable chaos and destruction (see\u00a0The Fifth Element<\/em><\/a>\u00a0for reference). Or perhaps it\u2019s a giant black obelisk serving as a\u00a0memento mori<\/em>\u00a0constantly reminding us of our fleeting time on this mortal plane.
