The original movement of Abstract Expressionism sought unprecedented ways of creating the substance of feeling. Due to the latter it\u2019s always been a genre that has lent itself readily to renewed iterations, driven by the impulses and interests of the artist. Also by the environments they find themselves in, and those they create for themselves.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the recent article <a href=\"https:\/\/www.artbasel.com\/stories\/neo-abstract-expressionism-art-basel-miami-beach-rachel-jones-marley-freeman\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Is Abstract Expressionism Back?<\/em><\/a> by Art Basel, several painters of a younger generation have made a turn toward a different kind of abstract art. \u201cWith enlivened practices of rigorous craft and deeply felt personal stakes\u201d they draw deeply on, but are markedly distinct to, the genre&#8217;s past. Across their distinctive styles you can find an affirmative, complex use of colour often through ecstatic brushwork. See <a href=\"https:\/\/newbloodart.com\/artist\/robert-lanz\">Robert Lanz\u2019s<\/a> alchemic splendour, evocative of deep space wonders \u2013 a crab nebula? In addition to oil paint this artist uses ink, tar, copper and schellac: a  fascinating process to awesome effects. Frequently these abstract works lend themselves to a bodily language of paint\u2013&nbsp;see the sinuous brushwork of <a href=\"https:\/\/newbloodart.com\/artist\/emily-oades\">Emily Oades<\/a>. Compositionally her paintings will have many centres: equilibrium through multiplicity; vertical and horizontal cascades. Then there\u2019s the constructivist tendency of <a href=\"https:\/\/newbloodart.com\/artist\/felicity-nutt\">Felicity Nutt<\/a> in swathes green and a plethora of other tones, and the organic flavour of <a href=\"https:\/\/newbloodart.com\/artist\/crimson-boner\">Crimson Wale&#8217;s<\/a> shapes looking like the limbs of petals. Likewise there\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/newbloodart.com\/artist\/olivia-bartlett\">Olivia Bartlett\u2019s<\/a> viscera and the levity of <a href=\"https:\/\/newbloodart.com\/artist\/olga-mun\">Olga Mun<\/a>\u00a0and <a href=\"https:\/\/newbloodart.com\/artist\/yui-yan-rosalyn-ng\">Rosalyn Ng&#8217;s\u00a0<\/a>palettes. They sit alongside more brilliantly surfaced, uniquely styled works.
