At this year’s Frieze Art Fair American artist James Turrell’s LED work ‘Incantation’ was on display. Will Copley<\/a>, one of the latest artists to join the gallery,\u00a0resonates with his experiments with light. The culmination of\u00a0James Turrell<\/a>\u2019s career is underway in a volcanic crater in the desert of Arizona: he’s\u00a0building a structure inspired by the celestial engagement of Inca architecture, seeking\u00a0to create a \u201ccontrolled environment for the contemplation of light.“<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Will Copley also works with LED, on wood and canvas. His\u00a0Light Paintings<\/em> are both mystical and analytical, an admixture of the material and immaterial. He uses colour in both pigment and LED;\u00a0the boundaries between organic and artificial, subjective and objective are in motion in these\u00a0contemplative works.\u00a0What\u00a0would JMW Turner make of these contemporary theatres\u00a0of light?\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
