Steve Burden, \u00a0Joanne Hummel-Newell and Orlanda Broom have all successfully progressed to stage 2 of judging for the prestigious John Moores Painting Prize Exhibition. The prize was launched in 1957 with the aim of showcasing “the best and most vital work being done today throughout the country”.<\/p>\n

The Prize is celebrating 60 years in 2018 – it will be the 30th exhibition since its launch in 1957, there is a first prize of \u00a325,000 and four prizes of \u00a32,500. These are awarded by the jury. Artists will be notified on Monday 9 April if their work has been selected for the John Moores Painting Prize 2018 Exhibition – when 50 exhibiting artists will be selected from over 2,500 entrants. Previous winners include Peter Doig and Jon Hoyland.<\/p>\n
