Frederic Anderson<\/a> was Shortlisted for Tiffany and co\/Outset studio award – a high profile award inaugurated this year. The award selects one artist from each of the main London art colleges (6 artists in total), and awards them free studio space for one year + mentoring. Only three artists were shortlisted from Wimbledon and Frederic was one of them. Anderson was included in the show \u2018Signal to Noise\u2019 – an exhibition of around 20 emerging artists in Hackney, curated by Charley Peters and reviewed in AN.

Iain Andrews<\/a>\u00a0was selected as a prizewinner for the second year running for 2017 Greater Manchester Art Prize and is currently part of the Contemporary British Painting show that is touring China this year. – China exhibition tour: Contemporary Masters from Britain \u2013 Selected works from the Priseman Seabrook collection of 21st Century British Painting, will tour China for three shows in Autumn 2017 at The Yantai Art Museum, Jiangsu Arts and Crafts Museum and the Jiangsu Art Museum. The Yantai Art Museum has just acquired three of Andrews<\/a>‘ drawings for their permanent collection (the museum is comparable to the size of The Tate).

Margaret Ashman<\/a>\u00a0 shortlisted for the RA Summer Exhibition and\u00a0won First Prize at the London Print Studio Members Summer show 2017. Andzrej Klimowski, Professor Emeritus in Visual Communication at the Royal College of Art, selected Margaret from 53 exhibiting artists.\u00a0Margaret won another prize this November; \u00a0The Red Hot Press purchase prize at the Masters One Off Exhibition.<\/p>\n

Margaret was invited to participate in a major printmaking exhibition, Light\/Matter, at the Grunwald Gallery, Indiana University, USA which opened on the 25th<\/sup> August. The exhibition highlights the fusion of photographic imagery and analogue print techniques. \u00a0Margaret was one of just 5 UK artists included in this international exhibition. Artists were chosen for their groundbreaking works, which have made significant contributions to the photo-print movement.

\nSteve Burden<\/a>\u00a0was selected for the RWA Open<\/a>, longlisted for the\u00a0Aesthetica Art Prize 2017 and held three sell-out solo shows and ten group shows. His painting \u2018Abattoir\u2019 has been touring the South West and exhibited at Bristol Museum and Falmouth Art Gallery where it was hung alongside works by Duchamp, Matisse and Picasso \u2013 the tour continues next year to The Wilson in Cheltenham and Poole Museum. Gavin Turk also selected him for his exhibition \u2018Gavin Turk and Friends\u2019 which included works by Peter Blake, Paula Rego, Rachel Whiteread and Dexter Dalwood. Other notable achievements include being awarded an Artists bursary by A-N (The Artists Information Company) and he was also awarded Artist of the Month by both VASW (Visual Arts South West) and Artiq. This year Steve has featured in several press articles that included being hailed as a Rising Star by the Guardian in May 2017 and he was invited to take over \u2018Mother London\u2019s\u2019 Instagram account.<\/p>\n

In February 2018 he will be taking the work home with a solo show in Deptford, London with \u2018No Format\u2019 gallery. He also has a solo show planned in Brighton and will continue to exhibit widely in China.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s also an exciting collaboration with a Canadian filmmaker about his life on the Pepys and the subsequent art borne out of that experience. Recently Steve was invited to become a trustee of Bath Artists Studios based upon his achievements in 2017. In October Steve exhibited several works at The Nanjing International Art Festival in China. Notable Sales in 2017: Two works recently acquired by the Portland Group – one piece acquired by Citigroup to be hung in their office at 20 Fenchurch Street, London\u00a0Prolifically exhibiting in\u00a0solo and group shows 2017.

John Brennan<\/a> – many notable achievements this year:
\n1. Public acquisition by Huddersfield Art Gallery permanent collection: Painting – The War Room, 2015, which featured as a finalist in the Contemporary British Painting Prize 2016, has recently been acquired by Huddersfield Art Gallery permanent collection.\u00a0As this is John’s first public acquisition and a significant career step, he\u00a0will be raising his prices soon, from around 20% on the larger works to around 50% on the smaller.<\/p>\n

2. Private acquisition by the Priseman Seabrook collection of 21st Century British Painting: The Trouble with You, 2015 has recently been acquired by the Priseman Seabrook collection of 21st Century British Painting and will tour China later this year (see details below).<\/p>\n

3. China exhibition tour: Contemporary Masters from Britain – Selected works from the Priseman Seabrook collection of 21st Century British Painting, including The Trouble with You, 2015, will tour China for three shows in Autumn 2017 at The Yantai Art Museum, Jiangsu Arts and Crafts Museum and the Jiangsu Art Museum.

Orlanda Broom<\/a>‘s (who is fast becoming increasingly collectable with many exhibitions, a recent prestigious large scale commission for the Four Seasons New York) portrait was included by Peter Blake in his recent epically scaled collage artwork \u2018Our Fans\u2019, she was also selected for the\u00a0RWA annual open in Bristol (for her painting Skeletons Sprigs) as well as for The Dentons Art Prize \u2013 where her work won staff choice award.<\/span>

For this show she painted the first official portrait of Caroline Lucas MP (leader of the Green party). She has also been selected for Discerning Eye Exhibition 2017 at the Mall Galleries.

Janine Hall <\/a>was selected to exhibit at FBA Futures 2017<\/a>\u00a0 and accepted into the RWA show \u2013 Drawn 2017<\/a>\u00a0 –\u00a0Drawn is a biennial open submission drawing exhibition, which aims to explore the boundaries of drawing and celebrate it as both an autonomous discipline and an interdisciplinary tool.\u00a0<\/em>Janine Hall was awarded the Marcus Beale Architects Drawing Prize 2017 and awarded Distinction for her MA Drawing degree at Wimbledon College of Art.

Emma Hartley was Selected for both the NOA 2017\u00a0and the Discerning \u00a0Eye by Simon Tait at Mall Galleries 2017. She had a solo show at the Oxo Gallery, South Bank, London and her work was collected widely this year for both private and corporate collections.\u00a0Her work can now be found in a prestigious development in Trafalgar Square.

Christina Kim-Symes<\/a>\u00a0–\u00a0Christina graduated this year, she has been selected for inclusion in the Clyde & Co Awards<\/a>, which supports the next generation of emerging artists and has collections internationally \u2013 she\u00a0was recently chosen as the winner of the staff vote prize of \u00a32000. Notably a framed piece of Christina\u2019s work is hanging in the House of Commons.

Susanne Lund Pangrazio\u00a0– participated in no fewer than 6 really good group shows this year, exhibiting in\u00a0a two person exhibition at Linlithgow CCA and she has been invited to participate in a one month long art residency at St Petersburg Art Residency in Russia in May 2018 which will culminate in a solo show in St Petersburg.

Ma\u0142gorzata Lapsa-Malawska<\/a>\u00a0This year Malgorzata was selected for the Royal Scottish Academy Open Exhibition, The Society of Woman Artists Annual Exhibition at The Mall Galleries, The Muse at 269 Gallery, London and a solo show in Poland.<\/p>\n

Birgitte Lykke Madsen is currently holding a solo show for Galleria Pirra in Turin, Italy and was awarded an Artist Residency in the German K\u00fcnstlerhaus Lukas, which is situated at the northern German coastline, for the purpose of working with big sea paintings for a solo show in Denmark in November. (Galleri Br\u00e6nderig\u00e5rden, Horsens).\u00a0Birgitte Lykke Madsen<\/a>\u00a0was awarded an\u00a0Artist in Residency in Reykjavik for the whole month of April.\u00a0This is her\u00a0second Residency in Reykjavik with\u00a0SIM, the artist organisation of Iceland and the residency for international artists.\u00a0The residency is at Korpulfsstadir in the outskirts of Reykjavik.<\/em>

Scott Robertson\u00a0held his first solo show at Project 78 gallery in February 2017 – this resulted in being spotted by Rosie Cooper who is the curator at the De La Warr Pavilion – she nominated Scott for The Drawing Room Bursary Prize in London, (this is a prize you have to be nominated for) a month long residency at the Drawing Room gallery with show etc. Scott has also had work selected for Drawn at the Royal West Academy.\u00a0 At the end of 2017 Scott was pre-selected for Open 2018 Society of Scottish Artists and Visual Art Scotland at the Royal Scottish Academy, Edinburgh early next year and selected for NN Contemporary Open 2018, Northampton.<\/span><\/p>\n

Paul Smith has been gaining attention this year \u2013 he has just had a painting acquired by a major Chinese art gallery, he has two paintings in The ING Discerning Eye 2017 and a solo show that launches 21\/10\/17 in the Don\u2019t Walk Walk Gallery in Deal. In the new year he has 2 further solo shows scheduled and is likely to see price increases soon..

Stephen Todd<\/a>: A show entitled Humber Estuary: Changing Views supported by the Arts Council includes 30 paintings by Stephen Todd<\/a> and is the conclusion of an 18 month collaboration with Beverley Treasure House and Art Gallery. These paintings are shown in conjunction with older paintings, artefacts and film of the Humber Estuaryo museum artefacts and film on loan from public museums and private collections. Humber Estuary: Changing Views at Beverley Treasure House and Art Gallery is now open and runs until 17th February.\u00a0The show is a Humber Museums Partnership initiative with Arts Council Support.

Samantha Wilson<\/a> – was awarded in Feb 2017 an International Scholarship for the Paul Klein Works Art advisor course worth $1000. This award is gifted to only one International artist.
\nIn June 2017, Samantha will be initiating a funded arts community residency in rural Kenya – delivering arts workshops and community building sessions through the arts to benefit a rural, unpriviledged community. It is an initiative project that she and her partner hope to carry out every year and expand its growth all over Asia and Africa to introduce the arts into communities that cannot afford.

Sara Willett<\/a> has been shortlisted for the Sunny International Art Prize and will be involved in touring shows over the next six months. Her work is gaining a strong reputation amongst buyers now in China and the US.

Nicola Wiltshire<\/a> was recently highlighted by The Guardian as an \u201cartist to watch\u201d (May 2017). She was also been described as \u201cOne of the most exciting young artists in Britain\u201d by the curator at Hartlepool Art Gallery (October 2016). Nicola graduated in 2015 and has already had her first solo show, with a further 2 solo shows scheduled for 2017 \u2013 she is currently Artist In Residence at Halley Stevenson, Dundee. This residency led to a solo exhibition ‘The Loom Runs. The Smoke Rises’, which will be moving to a larger museum venue in 2018. Nicola Wiltshire’s painting ‘Colours of The Night Forest’, painted on Liberty fabric, was selected for The Meffan Winter Open Exhibition and received a special judges’ commendation.
