Original painting in acrylic on deep edge canvas.
"A winter walk, late afternoon, the sun gone, with only the suggestion of its glow from behind the hills. Soft light, hints of lilac haunt the sky."
Vivid, solid and vibrating colour is brushed and scraped across the canvas in gestural and abstract forms - the paintings are inspired by Williams’ passion for the rich spectacle of all-enveloping landscapes. The paintings imbue an atmosphere, which calls to mind Paul Klee’s words, “Art does not reproduce the visible, rather, it makes visible.” Each piece saturated with an ethereal atmosphere which envelops the senses – the smell of trodden grass or the radiating heat of Australia’s planes are almost materialised through the sensitive control of form and enlivening use of colour.
