Original painting in acrylic on canvas.
Original painting in acrylic and oil paint on stretched canvas.
As with almost all my paintings, this abstraction was born of sensations when confronted by nature, in this case low tide, at night, on the North Sea coast. From England, or equally from Ostend. Or both. The depth of this large-format work is rendered through a choice of zones of colour and texture and not traditional perspective. The subject is hoisted vertically, a feeling of vertigo created.

Currently based in France, Wayne Sleeth is a painter of personal discovery, composing a work to his own evolving rhythm. Perceiving the act of painting a complex composition of hidden memory. Sleeth chooses to form open-ended ‘scapes’, whereby memories are shaped as inviting sensations. Landscapes and skylines become abstract forms, while emotive representations gain tangible presence.
