Original painting in acrylic on deep edge canvas.

"I spent a cold afternoon in February exploring the fields and hedgerows around the village of Rattlesden in Suffolk. This is a view of Rising Sun Hill and a cluster of buildings on Top Road. I grew up in Suffolk and, while I now live in London, I still visit Rattlesden regularly. It's fascinating to see how the landscape changes through the seasons."

Walking home on a winter’s day feeling glad to be living in the city. A highly accomplished painter, James Self’s luminescent urban reflections seem to be describing a homecoming. Employing the recurring motif of light shining in the distance, each of these works is distilled with a hopeful quality perhaps not at first apparent.
