It is almost as if Lykke Madsen makes the hot and cold temperatures of colour which are essential to painting, the very subject of her painting. While forming a rare and convivial world apart, Madsen’s works also summon now longed-for physical sensations of the landscape experienced under the blue sky, in the heat and the cool of the seaside. You can almost hear the muted unity of sound rising like a vapour.  Indistinct, half-glimpsed, a mist of memory – these are paintings for unlimited reverie. The only call for urgency is their poignancy.
