Original painting in mixed media on canvas.
"I have used chairs in my work before, as a means to suggest the absence or presence of people. The way of working on this piece is different from much of my other work - I enjoyed the layering, pouring thin layers of paint and rubbing pencil and crayon into the grove of the canvas, while applying my usual techniques such as carefully masking off certain areas, thus creating new objects and layers, contrasting depth with flatness."
Pettersson’s work bridges fine art and graphic design, and habitually explores how what is personal and innermost is shaped by public notions, and public instruments, of sentiment. Her most recent works are inspired by 50s children’s’ book illustrations, and are jerked into modernity with compelling results. Pettersson’s work is widely sought after; her paintings are held in private collections in the UK, Sweden, Holland, France, USA, Vietnam, Australia and Hong Kong.
