Original painting in oil on jute (canvas).
"'Growing cave' invokes an indistinct space that bridges representation and abstraction as a reference to, rather than a depiction of ‘other’ landscape. Deep violets and greens compose a feeling of immersion within a space of imagination and natural world. My sense for this work was also inspired by Hatsuboku (溌墨), a technique employed in Japanese landscape ink paintings, involving an abstract simplification of forms and freedom of brushwork."
