Artist Statement

Sue Rogers is a multi-disciplinary artist whose work is about faces, figures and natural forms in pastel, paint, print and stone.   She is particularly inspired by the human form and is interested in what makes people tick as well as their physical characteristics.

In contrast to her previous life in and around London and her career with disadvantaged children and their families, she now lives and works in the far west of Cornwall. Her studio is situated in one of the Great Gardens of Cornwall and her work is influenced by the people and places around her.

Her practice is rooted in close observation. Whether painting , printing, or stone carving, her work always starts with a series of sketches and she regards drawing as an essential part of her practice.

Having graduated from Falmouth in 2021 with a BA in Fine Art she is now studying for a Masters in Fine Art with Central St Martins, London.
