Sian Egan’s paintings feel like the inner life of plants - depicting how chlorophyll might dream. They carry an organic intelligence: patient, slowly spiralling, half-light and memory. Lush and alive with discipline, their greens and violets cool the heat of reds and ochres; light moves through the paint. Beneath the flow there’s structure, an integrity of movement - everything in conversation. The colour relationships feel intuitive yet exact, as if earned through long looking and now an embodied knowing.
Alongside her proximity to her subject from her cabin among oaks, birch and hazel, Egan has spent years in deep, hands-on exploration of oil’s behaviour - its viscosity, translucence, the way it carries light.
