An artist concerned with highlighting the importance of wildlife conservation: Rachel Jefferson's work explores wildlife that has become endangered due to poaching and destruction of their habitat. Her paintings celebrate the existence of these animals - that live alongside humans - an existence that, with continued human interference, will be reduced to only pictures and memories. She uses a mixture of colour and metallic inks to create dream-like and mysterious paintings. The animals in her paintings appear other-worldly, as if mythical creatures, striding through a forgotten landscape – beautiful and foreboding.
