Heavily inspired by the Action Painters of the Abstract Expressionist Movement’s revolutionary process and ideologies on applying paint - I embrace the spontaneous and physical act of painting. Furthermore, as a contemporary artist, I am extremely fascinated and influenced by the action involved in creating art and not necessarily representing a particular message within it. Consequently, my practice is dedicated to producing vibrant, captivating artwork intuitively. Starting each piece without a premeditated plan, I allow gestural brushstrokes and motions to take control and reveal my creativity. This leads to a diverse collection of mixed media paintings, each containing clear contrasts and similarities through their energetic movements and forms. Even the inclusion of colour is dynamic in its presence, never shying from exploring harmonising and clashing combinations.
Although my artwork lacks political or social subject matter, I believe my art is a representation of adventure, risk taking and creative energy. Also, the details, colours and forms in each piece are completely spontaneous - therefore encapsulating a sense of playful chaos throughout. The pieces could either disturb or inspire an audience.
