Doused in colour and surrounded by movement: Glib Franko harnesses aspects of 20th century abstract expressionism in a unique pictorial language. The velocity of mark making at times takes centre stage, at others a distilled explosion of colour and botanical scenes: all achieve an immersive effect in nature’s spectacle. Through the epiphanic unfolding of space, or translucent sheaths of colour, paintings will fade or crystallise into abstraction. Seeing Glib’s works on the wall brings their essential buoyancy to light. You can sense the history behind them, of such classic innovators as Yves Klein and Jackson Pollock: the former’s pure purveyance of colour, the latter’s interrogation of surface and depth. You look away refreshed by Glib’s paintings, their energy compounded by a profound interest in harmony, in palette and composition. They reside at a nuanced boundary: the crux between a return to visual innocence and pushing the classical into the new.

Artist Statement

Glib Franko is a young artist who works with such classical artistic practices as painting and graphics, but this does not prevent the author from approaching the task in a modern way. Glib's work balances between abstract and specific plot lines of contemplation of natural landscapes and everyday situations. Particular attention should be paid to the technical experiment created by the artist, since as an artist restoration artist, he uses the philosophical discourse of this process and sublime him into a peculiar manifesto of the process of pictorial origin that has already been brought into the artistic canon through the work of such bright people and trends of the twentieth century as Jackson Pollock , Yves Klein, Together, Stockists and others. The main priority of the artist's work is spectacularity, self-sufficiency of color, a form that in turn leaves space for the audience's interpretation.
