Degree: Fine Art: Painting
University: Wimbledon College of Art
Graduation Year: 2020
Graduating this year from Wimbledon College of Arts (UAL) with a BFA in Fine Art: Painting. I have given workshops at the British Museum and participated in group shows in London. I am a figurative and portrait artist using mostly acrylic paint and colored pencil.
My practice is focused on editing ‘reality’, specifically moments of the everyday where a feeling of disconnect appears. Working with both painting and drawing to explore contemporary figurative art and portraiture, focusing on a feeling of alienation in conventional scenes. Changing colors or distorting proportions to emphasize a certain characteristic or evoke a feeling. In many of my works, you can see the hands or feet have been enlarged to create a feeling of heaviness, distancing the subjects from the viewer. I want the viewer to empathize with the scene of the painting while feeling alienated from the subjects. This could lead to a dialogue around the insidious feeling of being alienated within familiarity.
