As humans, we are naturally intrigued by other humans: in the way that we differ, and the way we relate. Through digital photography I explore a range of people who fascinate me in various ways. These portraits capture the essence of a person, often in a candid light. By capturing a person in the pivotal moment between unawareness and self-consciousness, I am experimenting with the barriers of comfort between people. Both natural and man-made pattern are recurring tendencies, therefore seeking out models who have freckly skin, curly hair or piercings. The models are photographed in natural lighting, wearing no make-up. Their face then becomes a raw canvas of possibilities, allowing me to enhance the earthly textures, imperfections and natural colour palette of the skin.
