Self-Plagiarism?

The Bridges of Glendale 36x48x2 2010

I painted this.

Then I sold it, which is great. But I missed it.

I liked it as an object to hang in my house. The colors seemed to help tie together all the rooms I hung it in. I like the message, that even freeways and municipal water management systems have their beauty. I liked hanging a portrait of my neighborhood.

So I painted it again. Is that self plagiarism? Is there such a thing as self-plagiarism or is that simply self-improvement? Is it okay?

Similar style, similar colours, but a different aspect – why on earth not?

I don’t believe this is self plagiarism as you say you liked the painting as an ‘object to hang in your house’ however this newer painting is a completely different object as it is a different painting and occupies a different space (your home) which i think automatically will change the context of how it is perceived hence making it different from the original. All is self improvement! by the way great paintings, i really love the colours- and the compositions- reminds me of the workings of the inner body.

I agree with Miranda, although a similar style they are two different pieces. Every artist has their own technique normally of similar style, which one would normally expect from an Artists “collection” no?
