Vinsun creates works that are both ephemeral and essential. The artist’s palimpsestic technique invests the works with the depth and atmosphere of a Turner, and the surface interest and information of graffiti. 

“My practice focuses on the night sky, cloud formations and spontaneous, gestural mark-making. The spontaneous element is of particular importance to me, and it is prominent in the drawings and hidden underneath shimmering veils of varnish-rich oil paint in the paintings. 

My technique gives the works a sense of hidden depth and youth, as the marks look almost graffiti-like. This, combined with the figurative element, gives the viewer an abstract image of the sky.
