This painting is from a series which are based upon photocopies of pages from books on artists who I consider to have influenced me, but who's work I have rarely been able to see other than through its reproduction in books. 

The paintings render the layout of those photocopies as an abstract space, responding to the page layout and photographs as planes within the painting that emerges.
