Artist Statement

With a fascination for old film cameras and the unexpected results achieved, I began to capture something beautiful with an element of cheek and surprise. I have drawn inspiration from photographers such as Ryan McGinley, as well as from my fascination with the natural world and fashion photography. The concept for this series of work therefore came naturally; A Photographic Guide to British Birds, the series, is a cheeky take on the title.

With digital now taking over film photograph, I hope to retain the manual and process orientated aspects of photography. I appreciate and enjoy the unexpected results from factors such as light leaks, over exposures and wobbles, and feel that the viewer in return will have a far more interesting journey viewing the work because of these beautiful imperfections.
