Featured in Ceramic Review magazines overview of the best of ceramics in degree shows across Europe, Williamson’s porcelain and ceramic boxes are touchingly poised between the endurance of fine art objects, and the fragility of the more ephemeral original - scuffed and distorted with use – from which they seem to be cast. This twin endurance and fragility is apt, something like the memories they may or may not contain.
NB: The images show that the boxes are not regular, the artist has deliberately chosen not to attempt to create perfection - as they represent the imperfect way that we recall memories, therefore you may find that the lids and bases rest unevenly upon each other.

Artist Statement
My work comprises of mainly sculptural/3d pieces that centre around the theme of memory, both personal and generic. They often incorporate found objects and images that themselves have a resonance of previous ownership.Although I operate in many media, my work has a large emphasis on ceramics, with each piece being unique, individual, and handmade.
The work is very multi layered and the interaction with the viewer is a vital part of the process, the art acting as a catalyst. When the work is exhibited it causes people to linger, to explore the complex layers and touch the piece.
I want people to get involved with my work not just stand back and look at it. I love the fact that the same piece can cause some people to smile, some to cry.
