Logan is a gestural and visceral mark-maker who plays on our desire to connect fragments in his primitive, amorphous, futuristic pieces. Logan’s works occupy an intriguing hinterland, hovering, almost before your eyes, between drawing, painting and even photography in that they are highly detailed in condensed areas, out of focus in others, use techniques of cropping and in the melancholy manner in which they are coloured. Often using diverse cultural references Logan creates vast abstracts with plenty of interest and entanglements. The artist is like the unruly offspring of Ralph Steadman, Francis Bacon, Henry Moore and an imploding Rothko.
