Visually I draw inspiration from untrained artists that I meet whilst running workshops, these have been held with: children, adults with learning difficulties, and the elderly. From these interactions I have learnt to adopt a stream of conscious approach to my image making.
My artwork for the public. I see the image as a starting point, and the title a clue. The viewer then has the opportunity to explore the subjects further. I have been influenced by the theories of Joseph Beuys, and the Artist Placement Group. I believe that art is as important as science and politics in the progression of society, and the beauty of it is ‘everyone’s an artist’ (Joseph Beuys).
