Skopinska creates beautiful, enigmatic detailed but simple prints. She combines often the small observations that make up everyday life, its absurdities and periods of waiting, with the authority and careful attention of a Japanese print style, as precise in their depiction as they are faithful to the process through which they were made. The pieces are at once ancient and modern, sitting happily between figuration and ornament, and invested with the noticings of a tender eye.

My works are a projection of my thoughts, fears, concerns, tensions; some of which I don’t understand. While sometimes indefinite, I give myself the freedom to create. My works are based on natural language – drawn contour, inspired by Japanese exposition.’
A river, a lake, forest and meadows, these can be seen through my window. I live on the 15th floor in a block of flats in Warsaw. I like the fact that my living estate is not surrounded with gates, with security guards. I am not alienated, but close to real life. I love my view as I love to observe: how the weather changes, people having a walk with their dogs, people rushing to work, retired people with carts, young people having a drink in the park. There is even a hill made of my city Warsaw's war ruins, allotment gardens, combined heat and power station, a bridge, a highway. All aspects of life: death, destruction, rebirth, movement and nature mix with present and future. I could stare and observe this view constantly.
